Living in Intentional Community

Daily Life

Our daily life is an example of exploring the balance of unity and diversity within the context of Community lifestyle. We honor that we each have diverse interests and acknowledge that caring for ourselves is essential to caring for our Community. We choose to attend regularly held whole Community meetings as well as smaller team meetings. Many of us volunteer our time by offering community service to our fellow Community members, the land, and the broader community of Mora. We honor the moon’s cycles, seasons, and rites of passage through gatherings and ceremonies. Group meals and game nights arise spontaneously to nurture connection, playfulness, and joy.

Our Home

Our home is nestled within 480 acres of biodiverse landscape in the forested mountains of Northern New Mexico. A network of trails and roads meander through this sacred land connecting homes and structures. Several of our 10 homes and community laundry facilities are entirely off-grid, utilizing the power of the sun. Lodging options for our visitors and retreatants include a riverside cabin as well as a two story adobe structure with three guest rooms and a communal kitchenette. Our community space is the nature that surrounds us. We gather for ceremonies and celebrations at many of the devoted sacred sites. The gardens include a 40’ growing dome that extends our growing season and provides figs, lemons, pomegranates, and flowers for the bees.

Organizational Structure

Due to the fires and floods Hummingbird experienced in the spring and summer of 2022, we are in the process of restructuring ourselves. As we grow into our evolving structure, we will bring updates to our website.
