Land Stewardship
As Transformational Land Stewards, our intention is to steward this land with an awareness of Earth (Gaia) as a living, evolving, whole Being. Hummingbird is an expression of her beingness and we co-create with Her. We honor and stand for the flora and fauna. We steward the wild forests, river, springs, and wetlands, as well as the domesticated areas of the acequia, pastures, and agricultural zones. The ethical, ecological, soul, and spiritual dimensions of our relationship with this resilient, yet fragile land grows with the rhythms and ripeness of each season.
Gardening
We have community gardens including a growing dome, as well as a number of home gardens at Hummingbird. Our community gardens are organic & biodynamic, and our growing season is short in our high elevation mountain landscape. In the spirit of give and take, we enliven the soil by planting a variety of vegetables and flowers each year. Pollinators, including our resident honeybees, are attracted to the vibrancy of our gardens. If you come to the land, we welcome your participation, whether lightly aerating the soil, adding compost, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, or enjoying the abundance.
Gaia Sophia Refugium
We are cultivating a grounded, loving, spiritual, and creative relationship with Gaia Sophia in communion with the four kingdoms, nature spirits, elementals, ancestral wisdom, and the great mystery. We experience Gaia Sophia as the unification of the body of Earth (Gaia) and the cosmic pulse (Sophia). We express our dedication through the physical, energetic, and artistic tending of Sacred Sites & Springs; gatherings & ceremonies to honor Earth; and stewarding this land as a refugium for the seen and unseen realms. We are in devotion to this sacred land as a place for the evolution of soul.
